Medical Disclaimer & Patient Acknowledgment
Last Updated: 08/28/2026
Cortexia Health, Inc. (“Cortexia,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides technology-enabled healthcare support services designed to help individuals better understand complex medical information, organize medical records, access qualified medical specialists, obtain second opinions and multidisciplinary reviews, explore potential care options, and navigate healthcare resources worldwide. Please read this document carefully.
By using the Cortexia website, platform, or services, you acknowledge and agree to the following.
1. Cortexia Is Not an Emergency Medical Service
Cortexia does not provide emergency medical care.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency or potentially life-threatening symptoms — including severe difficulty breathing, chest pain, loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, signs of stroke, or another urgent condition — call 911 in the United States or your local emergency number, or go immediately to the nearest emergency department.
Do not delay emergency or in-person care while waiting for a response from Cortexia, an AI system, a case manager, or a participating physician.
2. AI Does Not Replace a Physician
Cortexia may use artificial intelligence and other technology to organize medical records, summarize medical histories, identify potentially relevant medical information, compare published evidence, identify missing information, and assist with case preparation.
AI-generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or inappropriate for an individual patient’s circumstances. AI-generated information is not, by itself, a medical diagnosis, prescription, or treatment recommendation and should not replace the professional judgment of a qualified healthcare provider.
Where Cortexia offers a physician-reviewed service, the participating physician is expected to independently review the relevant medical information and exercise his or her own professional judgment.
3. Medical Information Is Not the Same as a Formal Medical Opinion
General information displayed on the Cortexia website or generated through automated tools is provided for informational and educational purposes. A formal medical opinion is provided only when a participating physician has expressly agreed to review the case and the service specifically includes physician review.
Use of the Cortexia website, uploading records, communicating with a case manager, or receiving AI-generated information does not by itself create a physician-patient relationship. When a physician-patient relationship is established, its scope will depend on the applicable service, the physician’s licensure, the patient’s location, and applicable law.
4. Second Opinions and Virtual MDT Reviews
Cortexia may facilitate second opinions or multidisciplinary reviews involving specialists from different medical fields. These services are intended to provide additional expert perspective based on the information available at the time of review.
A remote second opinion or Virtual MDT may not include a physical examination, direct review of all original imaging or pathology materials, or access to information available only to the patient’s treating healthcare team. For this reason, Cortexia encourages patients to discuss any second opinion or multidisciplinary recommendation with their treating physician before making significant medical decisions.
5. Your Local Treating Physician Remains Important
Cortexia services are intended to complement — not automatically replace — local medical care. Your treating physicians may have information that is not available to Cortexia, including physical examination findings, real-time clinical changes, institutional capabilities, local treatment availability, and information contained in records that have not been provided to us.
Do not stop medications, cancel treatment, delay testing, undergo a procedure, or make other major healthcare decisions solely on the basis of AI-generated information or general website content.
6. Accuracy and Completeness of Medical Records
Cortexia’s analysis depends heavily on the information provided. You are responsible for providing medical records and information that are accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
Cortexia does not assume that missing information is negative or normal and cannot guarantee that all relevant records have been received. If important information is missing, incomplete, mistranslated, outdated, or incorrect, any analysis or medical opinion may change when additional information becomes available.
7. Global Best-Care Search
Cortexia may help identify physicians, hospitals, centers of excellence, clinical trials, treatments, technologies, or healthcare resources in the United States or internationally. Identification of a physician, hospital, treatment, or institution does not constitute a guarantee or endorsement that it is the best or only option for a particular patient.
Availability may depend on medical eligibility, physician acceptance, hospital capacity, geography, licensing requirements, immigration or travel requirements, insurance coverage, cost, treatment availability, and changes in the patient’s medical condition. Cortexia cannot guarantee that a particular physician, hospital, treatment, or service will accept or treat a patient.
8. Clinical Trials and Emerging Treatments
Information about clinical trials, investigational treatments, newly approved therapies, or emerging medical technologies is provided for informational and navigation purposes. The identification of a potentially relevant clinical trial does not mean that the patient is eligible for enrollment or that participation is medically appropriate.
Final eligibility and enrollment decisions are made exclusively by the clinical trial investigators and participating institutions. Investigational treatments may involve significant known and unknown risks and may not provide clinical benefit.
9. Medication and Treatment Information
Information concerning medications, procedures, therapies, supplements, or other treatments should not be interpreted as authorization to begin, stop, or modify treatment without appropriate medical supervision. Prescription medications must be prescribed by an appropriately licensed healthcare professional where required by law.
10. No Guarantee of Outcome
Medicine involves uncertainty. Cortexia, participating physicians, specialists, healthcare institutions, and technology providers cannot guarantee any particular diagnosis, treatment outcome, improvement, recovery, survival, clinical-trial enrollment, or financial result. Even when a recommendation is based on current medical evidence and expert judgment, individual patients may respond differently.
11. Physicians and Healthcare Providers
Depending on the service, physicians accessible through Cortexia may be employees, contractors, consultants, or independent healthcare professionals. Clinical decisions are made by the participating physician based on his or her independent professional judgment. Cortexia does not direct a physician to reach a predetermined diagnosis or treatment recommendation.
12. Geographic and Licensing Limitations
Healthcare laws and professional licensing requirements differ among states and countries. Certain services may therefore be unavailable or limited depending on where the patient is located. Cortexia may modify the scope of a service or decline to provide a particular physician service where required by applicable law or professional licensing requirements.
13. Translation and International Records
Cortexia may assist with translation or organization of medical information provided in different languages. Although reasonable efforts may be made to preserve medical meaning, translation can involve errors or ambiguity. Important medical decisions should be confirmed using original source documents whenever appropriate.
14. Financial and Insurance Information
Any discussion of estimated treatment costs, insurance coverage, reimbursement, or potential financial assistance is informational unless expressly confirmed in writing. Cortexia cannot guarantee that an insurer will authorize, reimburse, or cover a particular physician, treatment, hospital, clinical trial, procedure, medication, or other healthcare expense.
Patients remain responsible for understanding their insurance benefits and financial obligations unless Cortexia has expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
15. Patient Responsibility and Acknowledgment
By using Cortexia’s services, you acknowledge that healthcare decisions involve risks and uncertainty; Cortexia relies on the medical information made available to it; technology and AI may assist but do not independently replace physician judgment; additional testing or in-person evaluation may be necessary; medical recommendations may change as new information becomes available; and you remain responsible for discussing significant healthcare decisions with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
16. Limitation of Reliance
You agree not to rely exclusively on general website content, automated output, or non-physician communications when making urgent or significant medical decisions. Nothing in this Medical Disclaimer is intended to exclude or limit rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
